Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Champagne Pool, Devil's Bath and Lady Knox Geyser — a riot of geothermal colour.
About Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Wai-O-Tapu (sacred waters) is the most colourful of New Zealand's geothermal areas — a 30-minute drive south of Rotorua. Mineral-rich hot springs paint the landscape in oranges, yellows, greens and improbable shocking blues.
The famous Champagne Pool — 65m across and 60m deep — is rimmed with vivid orange antimony, while the Devil's Bath glows an unnatural fluorescent green.
