    MONA, Hobart

Australia's most provocative and architecturally stunning art museum, accessed by ferry from the city.

    About MONA, Hobart

MONA — the Museum of Old and New Art — is the audacious passion project of Tasmanian gambler-philanthropist David Walsh. Carved into a 240-million-year-old sandstone cliff above the Derwent River, it is described as a 'subversive Disneyland for adults'.

The collection spans Egyptian antiquities to provocative contemporary works, all displayed in a labyrinthine subterranean gallery that is itself an architectural marvel.
